Book

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve excursions

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is MSC Cruises’s private island, so its activities, cabanas and excursions are sold by the cruise line rather than by independent tour companies. Book them in your cruise line’s app or planner before you sail; popular ones can sell out.

Calling at another port on the same cruise? That’s where independent tours can save you money: Nassau, Freeport (Grand Bahama), Key West.

Ship tour or go independent?

Ocean Cay is MSC's private island, so every paid activity here is sold by MSC, online before you sail or at the Welcome Centre, and there is no independent tour scene to book. A lot comes with your fare: eight beaches, free sunbeds, the buffets and food trucks, and on late-stay sailings the evening lighthouse show. MSC says booking excursions online can save up to 20% off onboard prices. Save your own-tour plans for ports like Nassau, Freeport or Key West, where booking independently gives you more choice.

  • Excursions are subject to availability and MSC suggests reserving cabanas early, so book ahead if you want them.
  • The buffet closes at 2:30 p.m., so plan lunch before then.
  • Beach umbrellas cost extra. Bring a hat and sunscreen if you won't rent shade.
  • MSC says the Easy and Non-Alcoholic drink packages aren't accepted on its private islands; the Premium Extra package is, though the island bars may not carry the full onboard range. The Fun Pass can't be used at Ocean Cay either.
  • Drones are not allowed at Ocean Cay.

Tipping
MSC includes gratuities in the fare and doesn't recommend tipping individual staff. On North America itineraries, MSC adds an 18% gratuity to onboard bar purchases.
Phones
