On its project site, written before opening, Disney said its plans called for developing less than 16% of the site, that it was donating more than 190 acres including the southern tip, and that its open-trestle pier would not need dredging. It set targets of 90% renewable energy and zero waste to landfill, and said it would give priority to Bahamian-owned tour operators and make space for Bahamian vendors.
