Do cruise ships dock in Santa Barbara?
No. Santa Barbara is a tender port. Ships anchor offshore and small boats bring passengers to Sea Landing inside Santa Barbara Harbor, where a hospitality team meets you.
Can I walk from the tender landing to Stearns Wharf and the Funk Zone?
Yes. The tourism board says you can walk from Sea Landing to the harbor and Stearns Wharf. The Funk Zone sits between the waterfront and downtown, and the wine trail's tasting rooms are close together there.
Is there a shuttle from the waterfront to downtown?
The 50-cent Downtown-Waterfront Shuttle only runs Friday to Sunday in summer, and the city doesn't book cruise ships in summer. On a port day, plan on walking, a taxi or rideshare, or a regular MTD bus ($2.50, exact cash fare or a contactless card).
How do I get to the Old Mission, and what does it cost?
Take a taxi or rideshare. Self-guided tours run Monday–Saturday 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday 12:30–5 p.m., with the last ticket at 4 p.m. Adults pay $17, seniors $15 and youth (5–17) $12.
Are the Courthouse tours really free?
Yes. Free one-hour docent tours start in the Mural Room on the second floor at 2 p.m. every day except December 25, plus 10:30 a.m. on weekdays except court holidays. No reservation needed.
Can I visit Channel Islands National Park on a port day?
Not realistically. Park boats leave from Ventura Harbor and Channel Islands Harbor, not Santa Barbara. The park's Outdoors Santa Barbara Visitor Center in the harbor is an easy stop instead.
Can I use Uber in Santa Barbara?
Yes. Visit Santa Barbara says rideshare is the most used way to get around, and Uber says you can request a ride at any hour.
