Best time to go

Most calls fall between early September and early November, and October is the busiest month on the schedule. A few calls are also listed for February, March and May 2027.

Average daily high, °F · Gaspé Airport (Meteostat 71188)

Fall colors are usually best from late September to mid-October. Many park services, including Bonaventure Island and most of Forillon's facilities, close around October 12, so earlier fall calls see more open.

Plan your day

Pick the plan that matches your time ashore, then check how far things are from the pier.

4hours ashore

Downtown Gaspé and its history

  1. Come ashore at the Gaspé marina. The cruise pavilion is a few steps from the landing, with tourist information and a shop selling local products.
  2. Walk about 15 minutes into downtown Gaspé.
  3. Visit Site Gaspé – Berceau du Canada, a re-created early-1900s village with costumed guides and the Jacques Cartier cross, if it is still open for the season.
  4. Stop at the Musée de la Gaspésie (open Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and the Jacques Cartier monument on its grounds.
  5. Leave time for the tender line back. Browse the tours list with the time-ashore filter for short city and culture tours.

6hours ashore

Forillon National Park and the lighthouse

  1. Book a Forillon tour or a private guide. Local guides work in French and English.
  2. See the Cap-Bon-Ami cliffs and the Grande-Grave heritage site, with its fishing stories and the Hyman & Sons general store (open until October 12, 2026).
  3. Stop at the Cap-des-Rosiers lighthouse, standing since 1858 and billed as the tallest in Canada.
  4. If the timing works, add a whale-watching cruise. Boats head out into Gaspé Bay and off Forillon looking for fin and humpback whales, seals and seabirds.
  5. Use the time-ashore filter to find a park tour that gets you back with a comfortable cushion.

Ship tour or go independent?

Many ships tender at Gaspé, and its big sights (Forillon, the lighthouse and Percé) are out of town, so a guided tour of some kind is the easy way to see them. Booking your own gives you more choice and often a smaller group, including private guides who can shape the day around what you want to see. Downtown is about a 15-minute walk from the cruise pavilion if you'd rather explore on your own. The ship's own Percé or Forillon tours suit anyone who would rather leave the tender and road timing to the cruise line. Browse the tours and use the time-ashore filter to match your call.

  • If your ship anchors in Gaspé Bay, the tenders run about 1.6 km (1 mile) to the landing, so allow for tender lines both ways.
  • Public buses run Monday to Friday only (not on statutory holidays), and taxis are limited, so book one ahead. Plan transport before you go ashore.
  • Many park services close in mid-October: Forillon's visitor centre and the Hyman & Sons store close October 12, 2026, and Bonaventure Island's season also ends October 12.
  • For Percé, pick a tour that includes transport and clearly fits your time ashore.
  • Some calls tie up at Sandy Beach or anchor off Percé instead. Check your ship's arrival point.
