Poetto Beach and Molentargius, or Nora

  1. For a beach day, take a CTM city bus (lines PF or PQ) to Poetto, a beach about 7 km long with bathing establishments that rent umbrellas and chairs.
  2. The Molentargius wetland park lies along the Poetto seafront edge; free self-guided walks are possible in its green areas, and the park runs guided tours.
  3. For history instead, a tour to the Nora archaeological site in Pula brings Phoenician, Punic and Roman remains, including a Roman theater and mosaic baths. Browse the tours below for one with transport included.

Ship tour or go independent?

Cagliari is an easy port to do on your own. The port faces Via Roma in the city center, and the rail station, ARST buses and CTM city buses all stop at Piazza Matteotti. Booking your own walking, food, beach or Nora tour gives you more choice and often smaller groups, at your own pace. The ship's tours suit anyone who would rather leave the timing to the cruise line, especially for Nora, which is outside the city. Browse the tours below and use the time-ashore filter to find one that fits your call.

  • Castello sits on a hill above the port. Allow extra time for the climb and the walk back down.
  • Nora is in Pula, outside Cagliari, and no source here gives a travel time from the port. Pick a tour whose length plus a generous buffer fits your time ashore.
  • Large ships can arrive together; the Comune reported three ships berthed at once in 2022, so expect busy streets and bus stops on those days.
  • Saint Remy Bastion and amphitheatre hours change by season, so check the day's hours before you plan around them.

  • Castello sits high above the harbor; ask the Saint Remy Bastion directly about step-free access, since the city page does not say.
  • The Nora site lists facilitated access for visitors with specific needs and a free audio guide app.
