Singapore packs a lot into one port day: the Gardens by the Bay conservatories, the UNESCO-listed Botanic Gardens, Sentosa and hawker-centre meals. Your ship may use either of two terminals, so check which one before you plan the ride into town.

Plan

Plan your day

Pick the plan that matches your time ashore, then check how far things are from the pier.

4hours ashore

Gardens by the Bay, one conservatory

  1. Ride into the city by the city bus, taxi or MRT. The terminals publish only a few ride times (see Getting around), so ask your ship or terminal which route is quickest from your berth.
  2. Visit Gardens by the Bay. The outdoor gardens, including Supertree Grove, are open early to late, and the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  3. Pick one conservatory if time is tight. The Gardens' price table lists the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest as a combined ticket for non-residents, so check the ticket options before you go. Only one conservatory closes on any given maintenance day.
  4. Head back with extra time before all-aboard. A short city tour that starts near the terminal can fit this slot; use the time-ashore filter to find one.

6hours ashore

Botanic Gardens and a hawker-centre lunch

  1. Take the MRT to the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The park lists Napier (Thomson-East Coast Line) and Botanic Gardens station (Circle and Downtown Lines) as its nearest MRT stations.
  2. Walk the gardens, which are free for everyone every day; the National Orchid Garden inside charges admission.
  3. Have lunch at a hawker centre, a part of Singapore's UNESCO-listed food culture where many stalls cook one dish.
  4. A guided food or heritage walking tour is a nice alternative; browse the tours below and filter by the time you have ashore.
Tours that fit 6 hours →

8hours ashore

Sentosa or a wildlife day

  1. Option 1: ride the Sentosa Express monorail, which runs from VivoCity to Sentosa Island with stops at Resorts World, Imbiah and Beach stations.
  2. Option 2: visit the Singapore Zoo, River Wonders or Night Safari at Mandai. Regular-day tourist tickets are listed on the Mandai site (see Money).
  3. Add a stop at Gardens by the Bay on the way back if the conservatories are still open.
  4. Many small-group tours cover these in one day with the transport handled; use the time-ashore filter and leave a generous cushion before all-aboard.

Ship tour or go independent?

Singapore has a clear public transport network, taxis and a cruise terminal at each end, so many people do this port on their own. Booking your own tour can give you more choice, smaller groups and your own pace, and it can handle the harder parts such as Sentosa or Mandai in one trip. The ship's own tours are a good fit if you would rather leave the timing to the cruise line. Browse the tours below and use the time-ashore filter to find one that fits your call.

  • Two terminals handle cruise ships here, so confirm whether your ship uses Marina Bay Cruise Centre or Singapore Cruise Centre (HarbourFront) before you plan the ride into town.
  • The old HarbourFront Passenger Terminal closed after 14 July 2026. The operator's pages now describe a new Singapore Cruise Centre (HarbourFront) beside HarbourFront Tower One, at 5 HarbourFront Avenue; allow extra time to find it on your first visit.
  • Gardens by the Bay posts days when individual conservatories close for maintenance, so check its opening-hours page before choosing which one to visit.
  • ICA asks all travelers to submit the free SG Arrival Card before arriving, with a few exceptions such as transit without immigration clearance. The page does not spell out how it applies to cruise passengers, so ask your cruise line how it is handled.

  • ICA lists e-cigarettes and vaporisers as prohibited goods, and the State Department says vaping can bring fines, deportation and a re-entry ban. Leave them on the ship.

FAQ

Singapore cruise port FAQ

Which cruise terminal does Singapore use?

Two terminals handle cruise ships: Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore and Singapore Cruise Centre (HarbourFront). Which one you use depends on your ship, so check your itinerary or ask your cruise line. Once you know, browse the tours below and use the time-ashore filter to find one that fits.

How do I get from Marina Bay Cruise Centre to the city?

The arrival lobby has an exit for the downtown bus and for metered taxis, and the terminal's page gives a 10-minute walk to Marina South Pier MRT. It does not list bus routes or fares.

How do I get from the HarbourFront terminal to the city?

HarbourFront MRT station (North East and Circle Lines) is linked to the terminal by a covered walkway: take Exit B and follow the signs. Many bus services also stop at HarbourFront. The operator's pages do not give ride times we can confirm for the new terminal.

Do I need the SG Arrival Card?

ICA says all travelers must submit it before arriving, free, within the three days before arrival including the day of arrival, with an electronic health declaration; people transiting without immigration clearance are exempt. Its page does not address cruise passengers specifically, so ask your cruise line how it is handled.

Can I chew gum or vape in Singapore?

ICA lists e-cigarettes and vaporisers as prohibited goods, and the State Department says vaping can bring fines, deportation and a re-entry ban, so leave them on the ship. Singapore Customs' chewing gum page covers commercial imports and states no traveler rule, so the safest plan is not to bring gum.

Is the Singapore Botanic Gardens free?

Yes. The gardens are free for everyone every day, and only the National Orchid Garden inside charges admission.

Is Singapore safe for cruise visitors?

The US State Department rates Singapore Level 1, Exercise normal precautions, the lowest level (issued March 9, 2025, page last updated March 12, 2026). It says crime against foreigners is rare but scams are common. Follow local laws, which can bring arrest, fines, imprisonment or caning for some offenses.
